One-Minute Film Competition

The official site for SAWA’s “One-Minute Film Competition”, an annual short-film competition organized by SAWA Organization. The competition focuses on films addressing discrimination and social justice themes as a way to raise awareness and promote equality.

Purpose of the Competition

The competition aims at anchoring the idea of equality in the minds of all people and combating all forms of discrimination, whether based on ethnicity, gender, or religion. There is no nation better than another nation, there is no civilization better than another civilization, there is no people better than another people, and there is no human life more important than another human life.

Rules & Conditions

  • The film must be related to the theme of the competition.
  • Film duration: The film must not exceed one minute (60 seconds), and you may submit more than one film.
  • Artistic creativity: You may choose any artistic style or format you see appropriate. The film can be a dramatic scene, documentary, dialogue, silent, animation, or any other format.
  • Technical requirements:
    • Resolution: HD1080i (1920x1080 pixels)
    • Encoding: MPEG 4 (mp4) 10-20 Mbps
    • Audio: Stereo or regular (48 kHz, 128 kbps, level 0 dB) with clear and understandable speech/content
    • Lighting should be adequate for TV broadcasting and publishing where necessary
    • Mobile filming is allowed if the video is stable and of good quality according to the above specs (the phone must be held horizontally)
    • If real individuals appear in the film, written consent is required. If it's a dramatic film, actors must agree to the competition terms and the rights of production and distribution
  • Intellectual Property: The film must be the original work of the participant, with respect for intellectual property rights when using references or music.
  • You may participate with more than one film.
  • Sawa Foundation has the right to reject any film containing extremely violent scenes or that does not align with the competition’s theme.
  • Publishing rights: Films that pass the second phase and are selected by the jury to compete for the audience award become exclusively distributed by Sawa Foundation. The foundation has full rights to use the film or parts of it on social media platforms and elsewhere to raise awareness or participate in international competitions.
  • The participant confirms that they have full rights over the film and no partners. They may not transfer those rights to a third party in any way that could harm Sawa Foundation’s rights.
  • Sawa Foundation has the right to translate the film or parts of it into other languages.
  • The winner must have a bank account to receive the prize transfer.
  • Submission deadline: The final date to submit the films is by the end of Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 24:00 midnight Jerusalem time.
  • Judging process:
    • First: A committee from Sawa Foundation will review the films to ensure they match the theme and conditions of the competition.
    • Second: Films that pass the first phase will be evaluated by a specialized committee for awarding first, second, and third places based on the judges' assessments.
    • Third: Films that pass the second phase will be published on the foundation’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok) for the audience to vote and select the winner of the Audience Award (Fourth Prize)
    • Fourth: A ceremony will be held to announce the winning films.
    • Fifth:
      • The first prize is $800.
      • The second prize is $600.
      • The third prize is $400.
      • The fourth prize is $400 (Audience Award).
