Ramallah – Sawa Foundation announced that the sixth edition of its “One-Minute Film” competition, themed “Equal Despite Differences", has reached its final stage, with the competition now moving to a public vote via the foundation’s social media platforms.
The competition aims to raise community awareness of the values of equality and combat all forms of discrimination through short films that convey impactful humanitarian messages.
Sawa Foundation’s legal advisor, Jalal Khader, stated:
“This year’s competition witnessed unprecedented participation, with 262 films submitted from 15 countries, including 5 non-Arab countries. This reflects the growing regional and international interest in issues of equality and the rejection of discrimination.”
Khader added:
“The jury, comprised of eight visual arts experts—directors, academics, artists, and professional actors—selected 11 films for the final stage, based on their creative approaches and humanitarian messages that align with the competition’s objectives.”
He pointed out that the current stage allows the public to participate in choosing the audience award by voting for the qualifying films through the official pages of the Sawa Foundation, stressing that this step aims to “encourage purposeful artistic production as a tool for positive social change, and to spread community awareness of issues of equality and rejection of discrimination.”
