Trusted Partner with Meta
SAWA Organization is the only organization in Palestine that holds the status of a trusted partner with Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger. It aims to reduce discrimination, hate speech, harassment, and blackmail across social media platforms.
What does it mean to be a trusted partner with Meta?
As a trusted partner, SAWA Organization is able to communicate directly with Meta and request the removal of any content that includes abuse, harm, or harassment targeting victims through messages, images, or videos, and that incites discrimination or hatred against them.
Types of abuse that are intervened to be removed
- Discrimination and hate speech: Includes insults based on race, religion, or gender, and content containing obscene language or insults.
- Harassment: Any abusive comments, images, or videos.
- Child abuse: Publishing inappropriate images or videos of children or posting content that includes obscene language or insults that harm them.
Reporting and intervention mechanism
- SAWA Organization operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- Call the toll-free number 164 from the West Bank and Gaza Strip, or 1800500121 from Jerusalem, or contact via the chat feature.
- The counselor will request that all abusive posts and links proving the abuse be sent.
- Meta reviews the abusive content and removes the violation within a maximum of 24 hours.
